What is Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)?


Folsom Psychiatry Associates provides TMS for Major Depression in the greater Sacramento region, TMS is the first and only drug-free based therapy to be FDA cleared for the treatment of Major Depression. TMS is a safe, localized treatment for depression that is non-invasive and non-systemic with minimal side effects. Now patients who have not benefited from nor tolerated antidepressant medication have access to a treatment that can free them from depression.

NeuroStar TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation) Therapy:

  • Is similar to magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
  • Uses precisely targeted magnetic pulses
  • Stimulates key areas of the brain that are underactive in patients with depression
  • Is conducted right in the doctor’s office

  • Patients are awake and alert during treatment
